Call for Nominations – Skills Shortage Steering Committee
The Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland is establishing a Skills Shortage Steering Committee to work collaboratively with members to identify practical solutions to ongoing workforce challenges across the industry. Skills shortages continue to place significant pressure on plumbing businesses, impacting project delivery, service availability and long-term industry sustainability. Addressing this issue requires a coordinated, industry-led approach, and we are seeking members who are keen to be part of the solution.
- Identify key workforce challenges impacting the plumbing and gas industry
- Provide practical, industry-led solutions to address skills shortages
- Identify initiatives that increase apprentice commencements and completions
- Identify opportunities to improve workforce retention, particularly in early career stages
- Review the migrant and skilled migration pathway
- Provide feedback on the apprenticeship pathway, government policy, training programs and workforce initiatives
The first meeting will be held online on Wednesday 7 May from 8.30am and we are looking for members from across the industry to participate, including business owners, contractors and those involved in training and workforce development.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to shaping initiatives that will support the future of the plumbing industry in Queensland. If you are interested in being involved, please email Ernie Kretschmer – ernie.kretschmer@mpaq.com.au.
